About Us
Garry & myself opened the Olive Grove in September '97 and moved into their current premises in October2008.
I grew up in the hospitality business (cleaning tables & icing buns since she was eight), received a marketing degree & then spent 2 yrs working in restaurants in Australia & America.
Unlike me, Garry's interest developed at a later stage of life and he formally studied as a mature student, graduating with a degree in Hotel and Catering Management from Cathal Brugha Street, Dublin. He has worked in two top Swiss Hotels, the Park Hotel in Kenmare and a number of top restuarants in Dublin and New York.
We have 3 kids & live in Mount Temple.
The newest member of The Olive Grove team is Head Chef Siobhan Quinn-MacDonagh.
Leitrim native Siobhan has amassed a huge wealth of knowledge and experience over nearly 20 years in the food business.
Having studied in Killybegs Collage, Siobhans style of cooking has been hugely influenced by her time working for legendary chef John Howard at Le Coq Hardi where he was at the forefront of Irelands food revolution and helped fine tune Siobhans style of cooking which she describes as Classic Irish (classic french with an Irish twist)
A past finalist in The Baileys Young Chef Of The Year and one of the youngest chefs to win a senior cooking competition.
Siobhan married and moved back to Leitrim where she took up her first Head Chefs position in Planxty Maguires in Mohill.
After a very successful spell in Leitrim Siobhan was offered a position in Longford in The Cellar Bar which soon morphed into The Black Olive Restaurant which soon became one of Longfords favourite restaurants.
In 2009 Siobhan was asked to come on board with a new restaurant, Harkins Bistro that was just about to open in the picturesque Dromod Harbour in Leitrim. Siobhan soon gained rave reviews (including Georgina Cambells Guide) for her stylish, inventive and most importantly locally sourced menu.
